Generating and Managing Bill of Materials (BOM)

Uphance makes it easy to generate and manage a bill of materials for your products because you only need to add material once, and the system automatically applies it to all the product's variations.

That being said, let's walk you through the process.

To generate bill of materials for a product, open the production tab and then click Add Material. This will open up the Material Addition UI.

Next, select the material name, category, and type. After that, select the material color. For this, you have two options: Auto-match product variation and Single select.

For auto-match, the system matches the material color to the product color. For example, if the material has a green color, it will match it to the green product variant. Note that auto color matching only works if the system detects at least one color match between the product and material. The other colors that don't match are randomly distributed.

Single select, on the other hand, lets you manually match the colors.

Finally, select options for material size, placement, steps, quantity, etc., and click the Add Material button.

You will notice you can still change all the previously selected options after generating the BOM.

You can enable sizes when generating BOM. If enabled, the system gives you the option to automatically match material size to product sizes or do so manually.

When you are done generating the BOM, you can export it as a PDF or email it directly to a recipient.
