Business needs can warrant you reserving products from your existing stock or production orders.
For example, let's say you bought 1,000 units of stock and want to hold down 300, which you intend to distribute across your 8 store locations.
This is where the reservation order comes in useful, and this guide will walk you through the process of setting it up.
How to Create and Manage a Reservation Order
To create a reservation order, first, you need to enable the feature as demonstrated below:
With the feature enabled, the next thing you will want to do is to create and confirm a parent order, which will serve as the main reservation order. It's from this parent order that you can distribute stock to your stores.
After the parent order has been created, the next step is to distribute the items in the order to your other stores. This can be done by creating a child order for each of your stores.
For this example, we will distribute the 110 items in the parent order across 3 store locations as demonstrated below:
And like that, we've successfully distributed the reserved orders across 3 store locations.
A few things to note about order reservation:
As of the moment, pick tickets can't be created for parent orders, but they can for child orders
You can always add new items to a parent order, which will be available for distribution to the child orders. However, this can only be done before the parent order is confirmed.
