Managing discounts on bulk purchases just got a whole lot easier, thanks to our tiered-pricing feature.

The Basics

Let's say you want to offer customers a 10% discount whenever they buy, say, 20 or more items from your online store. You may even want to increase the discount to 15% when they purchase, say, 50+ items.

It gets complex when you want to offer these discounts based on sales channels. For example, while customers who buy 20+ items from your online store get a 10% discount, you might want to give a 12% discount to in-store buyers for the same quantity of items.

How do you manage this convoluted chain of discounts for your business without getting overwhelmed? The answer: tiered-pricing.

The best part is that you can even set discounted prices for products based on variations.

Setting up Tiered Pricing for Products

To set up tiered pricing for a product, simply open it and click the Variations tab, and scroll to the Tiered-Pricing section.

Next, enter the quantity range for the product and set the price by channel. Be sure that the last range you set ends at infinity to avoid a system error.

In the example above, we set tiered pricing for a product with 2 variations across different channels. The same logic applies to products with multiple variations.

Creating Orders for Products With Tiered Pricing

Now that you've seen how to set up tiered pricing for a product, let's see what happens when you add the product to a sales order.

In the example below, we added 50 units of the product we just created a tiered price for to a sales order. But when more items were added to the order, bringing the total to 80, the unit price dropped to $8.

Did you also notice that the newly added items stayed on the same line? This helps keep things simple.

FAQs

Here are potential questions we figured you might have about the tiered pricing feature:

Can I manually edit the prices of products in sales orders after assigning tiered pricing to them?

Yes, you can. For example, while the discount price for the product we used as an example came out at $8, we can still manually change it to $9.

Can I still apply discounts at the product and customer level to orders?

Yes, you can still apply discounts to orders even if the items in them have tiered pricing. Learn more about managing discounts here.
